Happy Halloween! [31 Oct 2009|09:47pm] Originally posted at my blog. I was Lota from Island of Lost Souls, which is a really great movie that I discovered by chance because of Lota’s beautiful face. I was probably about 17 and I was browsing a VHS sale where I could just afford three tapes. I found one with the old Addams Family TV series, Metropolis, Nosferatu and this other movie, Island of Lost Souls, that I’d never heard of but the girl on the cover was so extremely gorgeous. I was trying to choose between Nosferatu and Island of Lost Souls for a long time and finally figured I’d get the unknown movie since I’d already seen Nosferatu and it’s a well known movie that probably wasn’t going to be hard to find some other time. When I got home and watched it I realised it was a version of The Island of Dr. Moreau. I was already a fan of the one with Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando and I liked this version even better. I have yet to read the book but I’m sure I’ll love it. I remember doing my makeup like Lota and being disappointed that it didn’t make me look like her since my face has a completely different shape than hers, which was still the case when I dressed up like her today, but anyway, here are some photos! There are a couple of “outtakes” in colour over at my boyfriend’s Flickr. I cut and styled the wig, dyed and printed the fabric to look like the one Lota wears, made the necklace beads with clay and made the claws from a set of regular fake nails. Birthday! [16 Oct 2009|06:17pm] Originally posted at my blog. Yesterday was my birthday, I’m now 26! Here are some pictures of what I wore. Sweater: My Ed Wood angora sweater, a gift from a friend. Dress: Vivien of Holloway. Stockings: What Katie Did. Shoes: Flea market. In the pictures I’m wearing this lipstick I got for free from some promotion thing in Elle magazine. It was the first time I picked up a fashion magazine in ages and it happened to contain a coupon for a free lipstick :) Anyway, I was surprised that it was actually a really great shade (you could pick from about five) because I’m really picky about my red lipsticks. My fancy nylon stockings get snags where the skirt hem rubs against them when I walk, even though I always wear slips under my tight skirts (though I guess they sometime ride up a bit under the skirt).
